"Music has got a community vibe to it that pulls people together, and those communities are different in different places." - Matt Beringer

Company culture, one tribe, one vibe, built to survive, live, and never die.

Cultures have existed since the beginning of time from the ancient civilisations of Mesopotamia, Sumeria, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Japan. Cultures and communities are one of the primal purposes of all human life. According to Cambridge Dictionary, culture is defined as, "the way of life, especially the general customs and beliefs, of a particular group of people at a particular time." Everybody in life wants to be a part of something, it's a human innate characteristic and value which all people cherish. In a past blog, I spoke on social support being one of the main aspects of stress management because humans secrete a hormone called oxytocin which reduces stress and brings people together.

This is why culture at a company and the workplace is pivotal and highly important because at a certain age you begin to stay at the workplace more than your own house. You begin to see coworkers and colleagues more than your own family majority of the time. Companies with great company cultures have soared to unicorn status and have been at the top of innovation for many years, such as Microsoft, IBM, Google, etc. According to Investopedia, "company culture refers to the beliefs and behaviours that determine how a company's employees and management interact and handle business transactions. Often, corporate culture is implied, not expressly defined, and develops originally over time from the cumulative traits of the people the company hires."

Now what are the consequences of a negative company culture, according to an article by BreatheHR, a negative corporate culture leads to, "includes gossiping, low employee engagement, higher rates of absenteeism, presenteeism, lack of empathy, lack of flexibility, and high employee turnover." This is one reason why companies are not performing as well and bottom line is also decreasing, but what can we do about this, how can we can be a catalyst of change and inspire people to improve their company culture. That's what we are developing here at RKease Company.

(RKease)

At RKease Company our intent is to ease workplace stress one gig at a time and enhance corporate culture as well as employee engagement. Therefore we are developing a wellness program which has three components to it according to the World Health Organisation definition of "health", which is the complete well-being of someone's physical, mental, and social life. Our workshop will be comprised of a physical breathing exercise which will teach people to relax their nerves and be relieved. A mental aspect which will be the explanation of the five pillars truth to increase awareness on stress and stress management delivered in a poetic way. Lastly, a social aspect which will be a jingle creation exercise that will allow employees to work together to make their own music to their company in order to enhance camaraderie and company culture.

Music is a powerful learning and healing tool and it can help people who haven't heard concepts of stress, grasp the concepts easily so that it can be memorable so they can be more stress-proof. Also music has always been used in communities to bring people together, especially in tribes so they can break down walls and barriers and connect to a higher power. That's the power of music and you don't have to be a musician to use music, just as an athlete can use athletics to become fit, but not be a professional.

Overall, that's the intent of doing these workshops and currently, I am still in product development refining my workshop and rehearsing it with my advisers so when I hit the market, I'll be able to take the world by storm one gig at a time. Hope you enjoyed the blog, stay tuned for tomorrow, peace!!
