"Principles of business, I know the rules, when I'm on the mic, I'll always rule."
Now these last couple of years as a business owner has been crucial to my overall growth as a person, business, and totally as a brand. I have been able to do so many things which has help me grow, such as read, participate in accelerators, attend networking events, speak with mentors, and join a company called Staccato.Ai, has been monumental for my growth as a rapper and business owner.
As a rapper and business owner, reading has been a serious staple in my overall development and through reading it has enabled me to have a compass to know where to put my energy and know where to not. In the book by Ray Dalio, called "Principles" he deduced the understanding of what principles are and why they are important, here's the quote on it.
"Your values are what you consider important, literally what you "value". Principles are what you allow you live a life consistent with those values. Principles connect your values to your actions; they are beacons that guide your actions, and help you successfully deal with the law of reality. It is to your principles that you turn to when you face hard choices." (Dalio, 2017).
Now the question is how do I live out these values and put them into practice. The first value is REST. The definition of rest by Google is "cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength." Now, how do I practice rest and pace myself through my entrepreneurial journey.
I read books on rest consistently, such as what you see above, and I created a mantra called rest is reason which is inspired by Hippocrates Sacred Disease, a quote where he said, "As long as the brain has rest a man enjoys his reason." (Hippocrates, n.d.). This means that a well-rested brain is essential for proper reasoning and decision-making. I sleep nearly 8 hours a day and wake up early in the morning in order to start my day, and have a solid morning routine.
I reflect KINDNESS in my disposition by being benevolent, compassionate, and empathetic, especially at networking events. I'm able to inspire people through my bright smile, provoke their thoughts through my ingenuity, and show them great vibrations through my enthusiasm.
I reflect EASE, due to my efficiency in my songs, lyrics, and jingles. My musical prowess is designed to be serene, enigmatic, and calming. That's the reason why I'm able to make the crowd dance, feel good about themselves, and feel great that they are at the show watching me perform live! Also my jingles provide a sense of joy, happiness, and helps people feel sangfroid through their days.
