Motivation, have to motivate, get up on the grind, in order to be great

One of the greatest forms of stress management and it's very hard to defeat in general is self-motivation. Self-motivation can be defined in a couple of different ways, but its extremely important in terms of the realm of reducing stress and also when it comes to having a sound EQ, which stands for emotional quotient for emotional intelligence. Being able to pick yourself up, when you are down, and feel motivated like you haven't achieved anything is a skill in itself and kudos to you if you have this skill down, because when the going gets tough, the tough get going!

According to the Berkley Well-Being Institute, self-motivation is defined as, "the internal state that helps us initiate, continue, or terminate a behaviour." For example, getting up each and everyday in order to write a blog and post it daily on LinkedIN, takes a lot of self-motivation, especially on the days where I don't feel like doing it. Also, another example would be consistently reading books in order to enhance my cognitive faculties so that I can accumulate more knowledge in order to broaden my horizons. Self-motivation is super important in terms of mental health and stress for various reasons. The first reason, that I would love to highlight is in terms of being proactive. In order to do well and have a sound mental health you need to be extremely proactive. We all get depressed, anxious, or feel down, it's human nature, but through being proactive you reduce the chances of staying in that state for a long time.

There are many ways, that I look to stay motivated and the number one reason why I stay motivated is because I have a strong why and reason. My reason stems from my friend being put in jail for his mental illness of bi-polar disorder and I wanted to show that people who have mental health disorders and are diagnosed can still end up and do something with their life. Also, I am doing the human resources program at Fanshawe College, and my dream has always been to start a business or a company. For human resources the connection is that you are supposed to maintain the corporate culture and sustain employee well-being, therefore, I felt that it was important make a business surrounding this since it was according to my field of study!!

Overall, intrinsic motivation is very important and it's something that I live by in order to overcome daily stressors on a daily basis. I hope you enjoy the blog and stay tuned for more soon, peace!! :)
