"Almost everything will work again, if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you."

Taking breaks, having to rest, to feel great and feel your best

Throughout my journey being an entrepreneur, stress management has been a vital aspect of this journey. Making sure that I am well, replenished, and rejuvenated in order to do well and continue pursuing my dreams. This blog is definitely timely because I was able to have a long weekend in which I performed, and was able to diversify my business into performing my own music. Our mantra, at RKease Company is that "Rest is Reason". We believe that in order to have sound reasoning, logic, and have your wits, you need to be serene, rest, and unwind so that you are able to be the most effective in your work and career.

(Company mantra)

For this blog, I wanted to speak on the importance of taking breaks in your work to rest, replenish, and unwind. Taking breaks has been imperative for me because I used to play basketball and workout, train, and compete on a high level. Therefore, we learned that in order to be the most optimal you must take breaks in order to recover from your workouts, so that you can grow your muscles when they're resting. Throughout my research of taking breaks, I have been able to come across an article by Michigan State University and learned so many facts about why taking breaks is important for employees and during your career. Here are some facts from this article, (https://workplace.msu.edu/breaks-during-the-workday/#:~:text=Taking%20a%20break%20from%20work,mental%20health%20and%20well%2Dbeing).

  • Increases productivity

  • Improves mental health and well-being

  • Employees feel more valued by their organisation and supervisor if they promote taking breaks

  • Increases job satisfaction

  • Restores focus and attention, especially for long term goals

  • Can prevent decision fatigue

  • Increases creativity

  • Promotes healthy habits

  • Movement breaks are helpful for emotional and physical health

  • “Rest” helps consolidate memories and improves learning

All of these benefits are why our mantra at the company is "Rest is Reason". It stems from Hippocrates who is the father of medicine, who stated that "as long as the brain is at rest, a man enjoys his reason". Therefore it is important to take breaks, relax, rest, and unwind to be more sensible, sagacious, and sound!! I hope you enjoy the blog, and stay tuned for more soon, peace!! :)
