Business Development Series Volume 1: Northern Commerce (Advertising/E-Commerce)

Throughout the next couple of weeks, I would love to have a business development series in order to see which businesses that I can work with in London, Ontario and beyond in order to start generating revenue for my business and become profitable. This is my year of sales and this is what I have to do in order to make my dreams come to fruition. Now let's define, what business development means and how that correlates to my business.


According to Investopedia, business development means, "the ideas, initiatives, and activities that help make a business better. This includes increasing revenues, growth in terms of business expansion, increasing profitability by building strategic partnerships, and making strategic business decisions."


Therefore understanding this definition, let me go into some information that I learned about Northern Commerce via LinkedIN and how a sale would be a win-win situation for both of us, since one of my ethos is the buyer-first philosophy, which I got from LinkedIN.

Now the bold and underline facts are the main things that I wanted to discuss. Now since Northern Commerce is an agency and it is London's Best Place to Work, a jingle stress reduction team building workshop would benefit them since they would have a more tribal feel to the company since it's an agency and it wouldn't be as huge as Amazon, Rakuten, or GroupOn, yet.


Case Study #1: Jingles

The core of my brand voice, and the core of the workshop is reciting, creating, singing/ropping jingles. Therefore we would align with our exercises since jingles are usually used for advertising, but I am using it for teaching so they would get the concept already.




Case Study #2: Psychographic Segmentation, Engineers (Stubbornness)

Being an engineering student myself, I can even vouch for this, but music has definitely loosened me up a ton. This trait is stubbornness, engineers can be stubborn for good or bad. They are unyielding simply because it takes a large amount of focus, concentration, and attention to detail in order to accomplish engineering tasks, therefore reducing their stress would be imperative.



Case study #3: Jingle Creation, Equity and Diversity

Northern believes in equity and diversity as well, so introducing them to black and african culture would be a way for them to learn more on how to recruit talent from the BIPOC community, which would be crucial.
