"There is an old-fashioned word for the body of skills that emotional intelligence represents: its character." - Daniel Goleman

Emotional Intelligence, Emotional Intelligence, controlling my emotions in order to stay relevant

Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, reading has been a sensational and pivotal cornerstone for my development as a person and business owner. Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, reading has been a pillar and a cornerstone to my overall growth being a founder. Reading has strengthened my fortitude, character, sagacity, intelligence, and my being. Without reading, I don't know where I would be and it has definitely broadened my perspective on how to be an overall great founder.

The book, in which I wanted to highlight that I finished reading today is Daniel Goleman's Emotional Intelligence and Why It Can Matter More Than IQ. Daniel Goleman is an author, psychologist, and science journalist. He has written many books, publications, and has spoken all over the world, and is definitely world renown in his field. This book on Emotional Intelligence has been a staple for me because my business revolves around stress management, emotions, and intentionally using stress to lead to new innovations and ideas.

Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More than IQ : Daniel Goleman

By definition, emotional intelligence is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. This book has had a serious influence on my venture simply because one reason that workplaces are stressed is because of workplace bullying and I have been bullied personally in the workplace before and the lack of empathy is destroying companies all over the place.

Also this book highlights the importance of self-awareness, which is the ability to be conscious of one's own character, feelings, motives, and desires! You can't be emotional intelligent without being in tune with your own emotions and feelings, therefore it's crucial to be able self-aware so that you can have attunement and a flow with other people.

One of the biggest takeaways that this book gave me is the understanding of social intelligence as well, which is the capacity to know oneself and to know others. When it comes to my workshop, I wanted it to be intentional so to be able make jingles with the company in order to make them bond, feel connected, and supported by each other is a form of social intelligence. There is a component of my workshop where we make jingles about the employees there and the staff, so it builds team spirit so that people can move forward together as one mind, one workforce, and one sound!! As a result, Daniel Goleman has helped me tremendously, and I can't wait to speak on more of how many other books have provided me with wisdom to bolster my business and help strengthen my life.

With that being said, hope you enjoy my blog, and stay tuned for more next week, peace!
