"It's not the situation that's causing your stress, it's your thoughts, and you can change that right here and now. You can choose to be peaceful right here and now. Peace is a choice, and it has nothing to do with what other people do or think." - Gerald Jamposky
Five pillars of truth, five pillars of truth, makes you understand how to be stress-proof.
Now the word "health" according to the World Health Organisation is "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." This definition has been the main inspiration and drive to orchestrate the foundations of my workshop. After taking some free e-learning courses on the Canadian Occupational Health Safety, I was able to find out that effective workplace wellness programs have these elements in order to be the most impactful. Therefore, I broke up the workshops into three sections in order to incorporate these elements.
The first part of the workshop is for mental well-being. One way to enhance mental well-being and make it better is to learn new things, hence why even in mental health it's called mental health awareness. So the problem which I am solving is dealing with workplace stress. According to Statistics Canada, 62% of workers cite that their stress is coming from their work, which is a reason why I want to go into corporate wellness because majority of adults engage at work more than sometimes even their own families since work is so time-consuming and demanding. Therefore I have created a stress education curriculum which I can teach in order to broaden the understanding of stress to my clients.
These are the five pillars which are fundamental concepts to comprehend stress education. Each section has their own definition, but the way I deliver the concepts are very unique and it will allow someone to grasp the concepts more effectively. I am utilising poetry and creating rhymes to introduce each topic within the workshop. The reason why I am utilising poetry in order to introduce these topics is because I want to ease my clients into grasping these concepts so that they can comprehend it effectively. Now each pillar is broken up into sections, let me define each one below.
Stress: Etymology, comes from the word "Stingere" which means "Draw Tight."
Perception: The interpretation of the stressful situation is positive or negative according to your beliefs.
Stress Response: Fight or flight response to the situation based on the autonomic nervous system.
Stressors: Threats to your body's homeostasis, which is the equilibrium of the mind-body connection.
Stress Management: Tools, techniques, and strategies done in order to relieve the damage incurred by stress.
Now this is the first section of the workshop and the main topics that we will cover and discuss during the workshop, reason being the more educated you are on stress, the more stress-proof your organisation and employees become. The aim is to make each person more aware cognitively, so that when stressful scenarios arise they can adapt based on their newly acquired knowledge and endure it successfully, leading to the improvement of their mental and physical autonomy.
Overall, this is the introduction of the workshop and hopefully it will resonate with my clients, but if it doesn't, it'll be back to the drawing board in order to iterate to make something better which will eventually lead to product-market fit which will make RKease profitable and ripe for success. I hope you enjoyed the blog, and make sure to have a great rest of the day, stay tuned for tomorrow as well, peace!! :)
