Stress Management: Dancing

Dance, dance, relive some stress, to make you feel relaxed and your best.

This is one of my most personal and greatest forms of stress management, which is dancing. Since the time I was a child, even since I started crawling and doing my first baby steps, I was dancing. Throughout my life, at birthday parties, prom, school dances, church gatherings, I was always the one who was dancing and the life of the party. From watching Usher, Chris Brown, Michael Jackson, they all influenced my dancing skills tremendously in order to make me a start today!!

Stress can come in a variety of forms and one way is physiological. Physiologically stress manifests itself through muscle tightness and tension, when your muscles are tense and are tight it leads for you to have various amounts of strain on your body. Therefore, exercising, stretching, and relaxing can reduce the impacts that it has on your body significantly. Now how can you relax, stretch, exercise, and have fun all at the same time. It's through dancing!! When you dance, you feel these effects, and I have the science and medicinal facts to prove it!

According to the Better Health Channel, (, dancing has so many health benefits both physical and mental!!

  • improved condition of your heart and lungs

  • increased muscular strength, endurance and motor fitness

  • increased aerobic fitness

  • improved muscle tone and strength

  • weight management

  • stronger bones and reduced risk of osteoporosis

  • better coordination, agility and flexibility

  • improved balance and spatial awareness

  • increased physical confidence

  • improved mental functioning

  • improved general and psychological well-being

  • greater self-confidence and self-esteem

  • better social skills.

Now pictured above, you have me dancing at a church retreat in my early teens. I used to use dancing as a way to get more connected to a higher power and express my love for others. By making them happy, I was able to inspire people to be more selfless, go towards their dreams, and seek God. It's not a coincidence that even today, I still have the same intentions, motivations, and aspirations today and that's one reason why I have written this blog so that I can keep showing people how to do that today and it'll be like that for the rest of my life!!
